For the last two weeks, I have been introducing my students to poetry in the literacy class I teach in Queens. Yesterday, we did a two hour assignment on the book “My name is Jason…Mine Too”. The authors are good friends of mine, specifically one is one of my best friends. So it felt good to say just that as I introduced the book.
The awesome part about it all, was to see my students smile at the poems, turn the book upside down as they admired the art work, and also complete the full book on their own. It was good times. And I stood proud as a teacher and as a friend.
