A tree grows in Harlem

September 10th, 2009

So I know the above phrase usually refers to Brooklyn, but there is a reason why I utter the above. Last week, the non-profit organization that I work full time for, took our students to Harlem to a park called Riverbank, and this park had trees and water. And I totally forgot I was in Harlem. It was serene and beautiful and did I mention I forgot I was in Harlem?

We had a good time playing with and hanging out with our students. I never really go to Harlem, but I can’t wait to go again on my own time. I found a perfect reading spot with the Hudson River at my feet.
