pause.jpgRev. Myisha Cherry is a powerful and passionate preacher, armed with a poetic, creative, and insightful edge. She has been positioned as an instrument in the kingdom of God, called to bring about radical change and spiritual growth to Christians around the world.

Called to ministry at an early age, Rev. Cherry is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Prior to her recent relocation to Brooklyn, NY, she served at the Empowerment Temple A.M.E. Church in Baltimore, Maryland under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Jamal Harrison Bryant for six years as Minister to Creative Arts, the Producer of the Power For Life Broadcast and the Minister of Media.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Morgan State University and her Masters of Divinity degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. For two years she served on the Adjunct faculty of the Philosophy Departments of the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the Community College of Baltimore County.

God has blessed and entrusted Rev. Cherry with diverse gifts to edify the body of Christ. In addition to being a preacher, she is also an honest and gifted writer. She is the author of a collection of poetry entitled “Psalm Epic”, the editor of “When Words Become Flesh”, and the founder of Un-Mute. Com, an online literary magazine. As apeople.jpg result she has been featured in Black Issues Book Review, a national magazine that showcases the world of African American Literature. Her articles and sermons has been published in culture and religious periodicals from African American Pulpit Journal and BustedHalo.com to Urb Magazine and Allhiphop.com. As a result of her writing and preaching ministry she was voted “the Best Preacher Poet” in the 2005 “Best Of” Edition of the Baltimore City Paper.

Rev. Cherry is also concerned and involved with community empowerment, education, and youth development. She is the former co-host of Baltimore’s WEAA 88.9 FM Sunday Public Affairs show, “Faith In Action” and currently serves as a Literacy Instructor for formerly incarcerated and adjudicated youth at the Fortune Society and teaches in the History and Philosophy Department at York College in New York City.

God has blessed Rev. Cherry with the gift to minister in a creative and insightful way to diverse ages and backgrounds. With this gift and the anointing upon her life, Rev. Cherry is truly a mouthpiece of edification and empowerment for God’s people.
