The VACAY Chronicles

August 26th, 2010

So I’m back from Vacation. I went to Martha’s Vineyard for 7 days and definitely got the rest that I needed. A few months ago I was talking to my best bud, Jason Reynolds. We were talking about how usual vacations are just another word for work in a different state with a beach. You end up coming back not rested and in debt. So this vacation I wanted to go somewhere and really rest, a cabin in Pa, upstate, or a island resort. Thanks to my bud, Tahira, I had a combination of both in Martha’s Vineyard.

I had a great travel partner too. We simply rested. We went to the beach, explored the local scenery, and did I mention rest. On our first day, I decided to count black people. But then I realized that there were too many, so I stopped. (Note: It feels to good to not be the only black people in a unfamiliar place.)I also saw some familiar faces as well. I bumped into my my good fellow AME preacher, Tony Lee, at Lola’s. He has an awesome ministry in Maryland. And while chilling by the water, I saw D-NICE taking pictures. I was hoping we would bump into the Obama’s because they were vacationing there at the same time but that didnt happen. But we did dine at the restaurant that we was barred from the night before because the Obamas were there and I must say it was sooo awesome. Its name is Ocean Club. Simply perfect!

Sad thing is the day we were to leave, it rained like crazy so the ferries stop working. As a result, we had to wait 24 hours to leave. But everything worked out for the good. Now I’m back in NYC, back to the tall buildings, massive people, smelly streets, and doing what I love. And if I ever need to retreat again, Im heading back to the vineyard, minus the rain.

Below are just a few pics…
